Diabetic Foot Assessment

A Diabetic Foot Assessment is essential for the well-being of every Diabetic. Newly diagnosed Diabetics should ensure a Diabetic Foot Assessment is carried out as soon as possible. Thereafter, an Annual Diabetic Foot Assessment should be maintained in order to aid your Diabetes management.

What to expect at your Diabetic Foot Assessment

You may feel more comfortable in a pair of shorts for this assessment as we need to look at, and palpate, the legs.

Our Podiatrist will carry out circulatory and neurological tests to your legs and feet. A Biomechanical Assessment will also be necessary to check for areas of pressure on the feet and the joints in the leg. A Gait Analysis will also be included, and this involves assessing the way that you walk. The tests that we perform are very accurate, and we can find even the slightest of changes in sensation and circulation. There is absolutely no pain involved with any of these tests. Your assessment is really very comfortable and enjoyable and it's a great opportunity to discuss your diabetes management with the Podiatrist. We'll discuss every test, its function and the results as we proceed.

We will ask you for some information regarding your daily routines, such as your diet, exercise routine, and medical information since your last visit. Treatment will be advised and given if there are any anomalies or areas of pain in your feet.

As you leave from your appointment, you will be presented with your written Diabetic Assessment to present to your Diabetologist, General Practitioner and any other health care professionals that you attend.
